The government of Malawi, through Ministry of Labour, Youth and Manpower Development in collaboration with National Youth Council of Malawi with support of the UN system in Malawi has embarked on country-wide youth consultations on Malawi’s development process. The exercise is an opportunity to include the voice of us the youth of Malawi in the process of determining the development priorities for the next five years (2017-2021). It aims at mobilising us to critically review the current development framework, MDGSII as well as the National Youth Policy in order to identify priorities and emerging issues affecting us the youth in Malawi. The review of the National Youth Policy will further allow us the youth of Malawi to review and discuss other national legislation and policies that directly impact on us, notably and among others, in the area of education, health, employment, entrepreneurship, gender equality and women’s empowerment, human rights and HIV/AIDS. Our proposals will be submitted for consideration in the successor plan to MDGSII. Here in Mchinji, this consultation meeting will take place at Compass Lodge on 8th December, 2015.
